E-Cloth Cleaning – Great Results, No Chemicals

When I clean my house every Saturday, I try to use environmentally friendly cleaning products like water, vinegar, baking soda, etc. But after being away on vacation for three weeks and having the fort held down by two young adult males, I was not so sure I could rely on my usual gentle cleaning products due to the significant build-up of dust and grease. At any rate, I was ready to bring in the big guns and let my green conscience suffer, at least for this one time. That is until I remembered my samples from the E-cloth line of cleaning products.

The E-cloth cleaning system promises that its cloth will clean all hard surfaces using just water. In fact, it promises to clean better than any other cleaning cloth or fabric, while at the same time reducing use of household chemicals by up to 90 percent. The secret is in the make of the cloth, a unique construction of millions of tiny “clever” fibres, which absorb dirt rather than just moving it and chemicals around on a surface, often leaving a residue that merely attracts more dirt. With the hope that the E-cloth would live up to its advertised claims, I began the task of cleaning four weeks’ worth of dust, dirt and grease.

I tested the general-purpose cloth first on a glass and wood shelving unit. Not only was there a month’s accumulation of dust, but also the shelves have some plants on them, which leave a sticky residue behind. To begin with, I wiped the shelf with the cloth dry and found that the dust lifted easily and actually stayed lifted. Often when I use my feather duster it seems as if I’m just moving the dust around back into the air. Not so with the E-cloth. I then dampened the same cloth and wiped the areas covered with plant sap residue. I was pleasantly surprised. The shelves came completely clean, dust and streak free, with no soap, no chemicals and best of all, very little effort. The rest of the dining, living and bedroom furniture and mirrors all received the same treatment, with the same pleasing results. I finished this first wave of Operation Post Vacation Clean Up in record time, did not have to sacrifice any green principles; and because these cloths are fully washable and can, therefore, last for several years, I saved money too. It’s a sure bet that E-cloths will now be included in my cleaning products cupboard.
